Now in its fifth year, Culture Shifting Awards Silicon Valley recognizes unsung leaders in tech, innovation, and social impact. The awards celebrate diverse high-flyers working at the forefront of their respective fields.

This year’s honorees include the CEO of a global computer security software company and a partner at the multi-billion dollar VC firm. Awardees are Stacy Brown-Philpot, CEO, TaskRabbit; Tyson Clark, General Partner, GV Ventures; Deirdre Findlay, CMO, Stitch Fix; and Chris Young, CEO, McAfee. Actor, producer, and comedian Chris Spencer was the MC for the awards ceremony.

The invitation-only event attracts socialites, technologists, and industry heavyweights from the Bay area and across the globe. Well-heeled guests who attended this year included Caretha Coleman, Shellye Archambeau, and Ken Coleman, among others.

The awards are the culmination of Culture Shifting Weekend, an annual bicoastal event that takes place in NYC and Silicon Valley. These are the only events of their kind in the U.S. that unite over 400 accomplished Black & Latinx tech executives, entrepreneurs, investors, innovators, and social impact leaders to celebrate and enable deals and collaborations.

Each coast has a different format; Silicon Valley is the largest gathering of Black and Latinx leaders in tech, innovation, and social impact. Silicon Alley is the largest gathering of Black and Latinx Venture Capitalists. Both annual events are invite-only.

The New York native describes the signature event offerings as a “mission disguised as an event” focused on enabling deals and collaborations. Examples include attendees receiving grant money, getting seats on boards, and obtaining investment for their venture fund or venture.

Culture Shifting Weekend kicked off in 2010 in the Hamptons and expanded to Silicon Valley in 2015.
