While the likes of Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg are icons of a male-dominated tech industry, women are rapidly entering both mid-level and high-level positions, according to statistics aggregated by Coupofy.
They’ve pulled data from 30 sources and looked at the most successful women in the sector and their roles as founders, leaders, and venture capitalists. The findings are published in an epic infographic, which reveals some surprising and not-so-surprising results.
Some of the key findings include the number of women in the top eight tech companies growing at a rate of 238 percent faster than men, with no signs of slowing down. Although the overall numbers of women are relatively small in comparison to men, the growth is definitely a step in the right direction.
Not all the statistics gathered are positive, though. Women represent only seven percent of the 100 richest tech billionaires. Furthermore, a disproportionate number of women (56 percent) in tech positions leave companies in mid-career due to factors such as work-life balance and company culture.
