A host of celebrities and local influencers turned out to support an end of year soirée to pay homage to breast cancer survivors at the Bailey Agency in Atlanta.
Now in its sixth year, Pink in December celebrates the life, strength, and endurance of women impacted by the life-threatening disease. Presented by celebrity publicist April Love, the intimate gathering provided a unique backdrop for powerful testimonies of triumph along with the opportunity to raise awareness and save lives.
Love has been an outspoken advocate of survivors of the disease since her life-changing diagnosis on Christmas Eve in 2009, when she endured months of chemotherapy before eventually being given the all clear. A six-year breast cancer survivor, the PR guru uses her testimony to encourage women of color to monitor their health, access mammograms, and fight the devastating diagnosis.
“You guys are a part of the vision that I had many years ago”, said public relations maven and brand strategist Love, who looked the perfect picture of health in a slinky pink dress. “I have taken the diagnosis and have become the change that I want to see. That’s what this event is about.”
The event, which took place last week, also included a live performance by R&B singer Vedo and served as a platform for The PINK Awards, hosted by lifestyle specialist Satchel Jester and popular radio personality and breast cancer survivor Ebony Steele. The awards honor the accomplishments of those who have exemplified leadership, service, and innovation in both their professional and personal lives.
