UrbanGeekz has been recognized by the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) as an innovative media platform that’s impacting the tech entrepreneurial ecosystem in Georgia and beyond.

The digital news platform is one of only four media startups profiled in TAG’s latest HUB magazine as a Georgia-based tech company that is impacting the tech landscape. All four Upstarters were acknowledged during a special unveiling ceremony at the showroom of OSF Brands in Atlanta’s midtown last Tuesday.

“We’re honored to be acknowledged by the Technology Association of Georgia as a Georgia-based tech startup that is impacting the tech landscape,” said Kunbi Tinuoye, founder and CEO of UrbanGeekz. “This latest accolade bears testimony to our unwavering commitment to produce a premier digital news platform that’s dedicated to making technology and entrepreneurship ‘cool’ and accessible, particularly for women and underserved minorities.”

Other individuals and organizations were also recognized for their excellence. Cameron Clayton, CEO of The Weather Company, was featured on the magazine’s cover but was unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict. Elliot Trice, Senior Vice President of Consumer Products, was there to speak on his behalf.

After the unveiling, TAG President Tino Mantella talked to UrbanGeekz about what it means to be a Media Tech Upstarter. “I think of viability for success,” Mantella said. “We try to identify companies that [have] potential for the future.”
