Kairos Capital Legal Advisors Launches Initiative to Support Black-Led VC Funds

News
Dar’shun Kendrick-Kairos Capital Legal Advisors

Kairos Capital Legal Advisors has just launched Project Esther, a pay-it-forward initiative to support DEI in venture capital.

Project Esther will offer free legal support to three Black-led VC funds for a year, helping them manage legal challenges and grow their portfolios.

The initiative underscores Kairos Capital Legal Advisors’ commitment to promoting inclusivity and leveling the playing field for underrepresented voices in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. With over 17 years of combined expertise in corporate law and venture capital, the Kairos Capital Legal Advisors team is uniquely positioned to provide strategic guidance and support to emerging funds led by black founders.

“We are thrilled to launch Project Esther as part of our ongoing commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion within the venture capital industry. This is making good on a promise I made publicly last year when completing the Blck VC Institute Cohort 6,” said Dar’shun Kendrick, Founder at Kairos Capital Legal Advisors. “By providing free legal support to black-led venture capital funds, we hope to remove barriers to success and foster a more equitable playing field for entrepreneurs of color. We believe supporting diverse voices is the right thing to do and essential for driving innovation and creating lasting social impact.”

Project Esther will offer comprehensive legal advice tailored to the specific needs of each participating venture capital fund. This includes assistance with regulatory compliance, contract negotiation, intellectual property protection, investor relations, etc. By alleviating some of the financial burden of legal counsel, Project Esther aims to empower black-led venture capital funds to focus on what matters most: driving innovation and fueling economic growth within their communities.

At a virtual event, founders can learn about “Exit Planning for Success” from advisor Julian Pouncy (April 17th). Kairos Capital, an investment firm, emphasizes long-term financial planning for founders.

Applications for Project Esther will open on March 8th, 2024, and eligible black-led venture capital funds are encouraged to apply. The selection process will prioritize funds with a demonstrated commitment to supporting minority-owned businesses and fostering diversity within their investment portfolios.

For more information about Project Esther and how to apply, please visit www.KairosLegalAdvisors.com. The deadline is April 16th, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. EST.
