Meet Sequoia Blodgett, Founder of Lexore
Sequoia described her transition from an entertainment career, working with major brands like Justin Bieber and CK1, to entering the tech industry. Inspired by the disruptive force of technology, such as the rise of Spotify in traditional media, she moved from Los Angeles back to her Bay Area roots and joined Draper University, founded by venture capitalist Tim Draper.
“I started from the best of the best of the best,” said Blodgett, recalling her experience at Draper University. With guidance from top industry leaders, she built her first company in the health and wellness space, secured venture backing, and later delved into tech by investing in early-stage deals. Ultimately, her passion for creativity led her back to entrepreneurship, creating Lexore, a company that leverages AI to transform video production.

What sets Lexore apart?
Traditional video production presents challenges that often don’t become apparent until after filming is complete. In the editing room, creators may realize issues such as poor lighting, incorrect framing, or weak messaging, often requiring costly and time-consuming reshoots.
That’s exactly the problem Lexore set out to solve.
During my conversation Blodgett shared her firsthand experience with these challenges.
“When you’re dealing with traditional video production, the problems don’t come up until post-production. You’ve already shot everything, and suddenly, you realize there are issues. The only solution? Scrap it and start over.”
Having faced this myself while directing, I could relate. I once had to scrap an entire video shoot for a Sean Paul project due to unforeseen issues. It’s a common frustration in the industry.
AI-powered video production is changing that. By integrating artificial intelligence, Lexore allows creators to fix issues in seconds, eliminating the need for costly reshoots.
“Once we started implementing AI, we could instantly solve problems. No more post-production headaches; if something isn’t right, we fix it in five minutes instead of reshooting an entire project.”

Many AI video tools focus on simple content generation, turning a photo into a video, or generating AI-driven visuals. But Lexore takes a different approach:
“We’re not just creating social media content. Our platform can generate an entire commercial, a full brand story, not just a clip or a quick AI-generated video. You get assets that work across your website, ads, and social media, all in one system.”
The key distinction is narrative-driven content. Instead of just producing visuals, Lexore helps businesses create compelling stories that connect with audiences.
“When you buy a product, you’re not just buying it for what it is; you’re buying into the story, the transformation it promises. That’s what makes Lexore unique.”
By blending AI efficiency with a director’s eye for storytelling, Lexore offers more than just automation, it delivers impact.
Finding the right customer
Initially, Lexore targeted marketing agencies and creative professionals, but they soon realized that wasn’t a sustainable market. Agencies still had to sell the product to their clients, and independent creatives were often making content for themselves, not necessarily a steady customer base.
Instead, they found their core audience in product-based entrepreneurs and business owners who need to create high-quality content at scale consistently.
“These are the people who need to put content on social media every day. Their business depends on visually appealing videos, but they don’t have the time or resources for complex production. That’s where we step in.”
By focusing on speed, efficiency, and accessibility, Lexore is transforming the video production landscape, helping businesses create high-quality content without the traditional barriers of time and cost.

On AI misconceptions and funding
AI often sparks fears about job displacement and content originality. However, Lexore ensures its platform enhances creativity rather than replacing it.
“Initially, people worried that AI would take jobs. But because we’re focused on a different customer segment, businesses, not individual creatives, that fear has faded amongst the people we serve.”
Another common concern is whether AI-generated content can be duplicated across brands, leading to intellectual property issues.
“That’s not how it works. Our platform is uniquely designed for your brand. You input your assets, and AI generates content specifically for you. Your brand’s identity remains distinct.”
This approach ensures that every video remains brand-authentic and unique.
Before wrapping up, Sequoia shared an essential lesson for minority entrepreneurs: raising capital is challenging, but there are creative ways to secure funding.
“We thought VC funding would be easy because we had connections in venture capital. It wasn’t. We were too early. But we still needed capital to build.”
Lexore successfully raised $100,000 through an equity crowdfunding campaign on WeFunder, an approach that allowed them to bring in friends and supporters, not just institutional investors.
“In the end, we raised $140,000, including a $40,000 VC check. If you’re building a tech business, don’t overlook alternative funding sources. You don’t need wealthy family members; your network can be your best asset.”
