Google announced a landmark partnership with NBA superstar Stephen Curry, unveiling him as the company’s first Performance Advisor. The deal spans Google Health, Google Pixel, and Google Cloud, and it promises to bring elite athlete insights into the future of personal health, performance, and lifestyle technology.

Rick Osterloh, Google’s Senior Vice President of Platforms and Devices, confirmed that Curry will play a central role in shaping health-focused products. “To now partner with him and infuse that same level of excellence into our product is a game-changer for Google and, even more importantly, for our users,” Osterloh

Curry Named Google’s First Performance Advisor

As Performance Advisor, Curry and his personal team of experts who helped him win four NBA titles, will collaborate directly with Google’s health specialists, engineers, and AI researchers. Together, they are already testing Google’s upcoming personal health coach, sharing training philosophies and feedback to ensure it supports users in achieving long-term wellness. Curry emphasized during the announcement that technology is now part of his holistic approach to health.

The partnership is designed to be deeply integrated across Google’s ecosystem. Within Google Health, Curry’s team is advising on Fitbit products and health-related features, shaping how the personal health coach can guide users toward better sleep, improved fitness, and stronger mental well-being. With Google Pixel, Curry and his team have already switched fully to the Pixel portfolio, using Pixel phones, watches, and earbuds to stay connected, monitor their health, and manage their demanding schedules. And with Google Cloud, Curry is relying on AI insights to analyze his shooting quality, refine training strategies, and even make business decisions off the court.

“Stephen Curry is a standout athlete who recognizes that to stay ahead of the game, you need technology that’s also truly different. As we celebrate Pixel’s 10th anniversary, we’re laser-focused on delivering AI innovations that help people unlock their full potential. We’re thrilled that Stephen and his team of experts have made the switch, and together, we’ll show people all the ways Pixel can help them do more.”  Adrienne Lofton, VP, Platforms & Devices, Global Product and Integrated Marketing

Bringing AI to Curry Camp

Curry and Google brought the collaboration to life at Curry Camp, his annual three-day basketball training program for elite student athletes. At the event, Curry unveiled Google Cloud’s AI Basketball Coach, an experimental tool powered by Gemini 2.5 Pro and Vertex AI. The system uses Pixel cameras to capture motion and biomechanics, then provides personalized coaching feedback powered by advanced AI.

Camp participants also received a first look at the upcoming Pixel 10 smartphones and Pixel Watch 4 ahead of their public debut at the Made by Google showcase. The young athletes engaged in interactive challenges that highlighted the new technology. In the “Night Night” challenge, they tracked their sleep scores using Pixel Watch and Fitbit devices, while the “Star Drill” competition saw athletes measure how quickly their heart rates returned to baseline after performing drills against Curry himself. These demonstrations gave the next generation of players a glimpse into how technology can help sharpen performance and encourage healthier habits.

A History of Collaboration

This latest deal builds on a history of collaboration between Google and the Golden State Warriors guard. In 2015, Curry served as a guest judge for the Doodle 4 Google competition. In 2021, he starred in a Google Photos commercial that highlighted his favorite on-court moments. That same year, he worked with Google to support Black-owned businesses in Oakland and to boost Bay Area economic recovery efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic

Curry’s influence ensures that the insights gained will not only benefit elite athletes but also ordinary users looking to improve their well-being. From personalized sleep coaching to advanced performance analysis, the partnership could set a new standard for how artificial intelligence is used to support healthier living.
