MaC VC-backed Janta Power has secured a $5.5 million seed round to accelerate the deployment of 3D solar tower technology.

The round was led by MaC Venture Capital with the support of Collab Capital.

The funding will support the rollout of Janta’s 3D solar towers, enable team expansion and expand its clean energy mission.

Janta Power’s Next-Generation Solar Solutions

Mohammed Njie, who grew up in The Gambia, Africa, and experienced the challenges of unreliable electricity firsthand, founded the company in 2021. Driven by a desire to create change, he studied electrical engineering and developed a reliable, scalable solution to deliver power in resource-limited spaces.

“Energy transforms lives. I saw firsthand the challenges people faced without reliable power, and I wanted to create a solution that could deliver clean, abundant energy everywhere,” Njie said in a news release.

“Our 3D solar towers generate large amounts of power in a compact footprint, delivering power where it’s needed most. This is a new dawn for sustainable energy,” he added.

Janta Power’s 3D solar tower serves industrial, commercial, and utility-scale applications, including data centers, EV charging networks, and critical sectors like healthcare and agriculture. The solar technology generates up to three times more power per acre and 50% more daily energy compared to traditional flat-panel solar arrays.

Strategic Partnerships with Major Airports and Expansion Plans

The Texas Dallas-based startup, Janta Power, won the Sustainable Aviation category of the Airports for Innovation (A4I) program, a global network of 10 leading airports. The next-generation energy tech startup, Janta Power, was the sole startup selected in the Sustainable Aviation category. It was one of only five startups chosen to address four major climate and energy challenges.

The win secured a pilot partnership with Munich Airport, Aena, and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to pilot its solar tech in airport operations. Its vertical orientation allows Janta’s towers to reduce land use, installation time, and maintenance complexity while significantly boosting energy output.

The funding will primarily support the commercial rollout of Janta’s flagship 3D solar tower, a vertically oriented system designed to maximize energy output while minimizing land use.

Proceeds from the seed round will also fund team expansion, with planned hires for roles including VP of Sales, Supply Chain Leader, Senior Mechanical Engineer, and Software Engineer.

“The rapid growth of AI is creating unprecedented strain on the U.S. energy grid, and traditional solar hasn’t lived up to its promise due to inefficiency and space demands,” Marlon Nichols, managing general partner at MaC Venture Capital, stated in the news release.

Janta is different. Their towers deliver three times the efficiency in a fraction of the footprint, making solar viable where it wasn’t before. This is the kind of breakthrough that doesn’t just meet demand — it has the potential to reshape entire industries,” Nichols continued.
