The Goal of The Gran Coramino Fund
LISC (Local Initiatives Support Corporation), a national nonprofit and major community development financial institution, manages the fund. In addition to direct grants, the program provides artificial intelligence (AI) training through 1st Street Partnerships. The program aims to help grantees differentiate their businesses and unlock new opportunities for growth.
“Our vision with The Coramino Fund is to lift up the hard-working entrepreneurs who keep our communities strong,” explained Hart. “This next group of grantees is a perfect example—they’re building businesses with purpose, and that’s the kind of leadership we want to celebrate and support.”
Overall, grantees span 18 states and come from diverse industries. They range from an auto repair shop in Charlotte, N.C., to a home care service for elderlies in Memphis, an event planner in Toledo, and a gourmet popcorn shop in Peoria, Ill.

For instance, 4 Grands Piano in Fairfield, N.J., is a grantee that offers affordable pianos, services, accessories and lessons. The family-owned business is using the new grant to help open a second location alongside a new recording studio. The studio will support young artists as they “grow and learn musically,” said Daniel Paulsen, co-owner.
On the other side of the country, the Coramino Fund is also supporting Neighbors and Friends, in Pasadena, Calif. This “café collaborative” is an outlet for local artisans and community activities, in addition to coffee and sandwiches. It stepped up to help neighbors in the wake of this year’s devastating wildfires, providing food and donations.
“Small businesses are the economic heart of our country and the drivers of community prosperity,” stressed Michael Pugh, LISC president and CEO. “The 2025 grantees reflect the resilient nature of small business owners, and we’re proud to work in partnership with The Coramino Fund to help support these innovative community leaders.”
About LISC
This new round of grants through The Coramino Fund is part of LISC’s ongoing work to drive growth in small businesses that might otherwise not be able to attract the capital. Since 2022, LISC has delivered $49 million in financing to over 12,350 enterprises. It has also partnered with 140 business development organizations (BDOs) to boost local economic activity.
LISC is one of the country’s largest community development organizations, helping forge vibrant, resilient communities across America. The non-profit works with residents and partners to close gaps in health, wealth, and opportunity so people and places thrive.
