Régis Bamba: Co-Founder, Djamo
Régis Bamba is a driving force behind the inclusive finance movement reshaping Francophone Africa. As co-founder of Djamo, he is building modern financial tools for regions where traditional banking has failed to reach the majority of the population.
Djamo offers digital financial management services designed for consumers and micro-entrepreneurs, including automated savings, local and cross-border payments, and interoperable transfers between banks and mobile money wallets. Operating in a region where more than 70% of adults remain unbanked, the platform fills a critical gap by making everyday financial services accessible, intuitive, and affordable.
In November 2022, Djamo raised $14 million—the largest fundraising round ever for an Ivorian startup—fueling its expansion across French-speaking Africa. The milestone marked a turning point for the region’s fintech ecosystem and underscored Djamo’s growing influence.
Before founding Djamo, Bamba spent five years at MTN Côte d’Ivoire as a developer and product manager, contributing to the growth of mobile financial services and helping launch the company’s first startup accelerator. Beyond his work at Djamo, he is the founder and president of Code.ci, an association supporting Ivorian developers and civic tech initiatives, including the country’s first open data portal in partnership with the government.
Bamba’s work sits at the intersection of technology, education, and equity—advancing financial inclusion while empowering the next generation of African builders.
