January 26, 2026World’s Most Followed TikToker Khaby Lame Lands Historic $900M Creator Economy Deal
Khaby Lame, the Senegalese-born creator and the world’s most followed TikToker, has sold his creator-economy company, Step Distinctive Limited, to Rich Sparkle Holdings for $900 million. The all-stock deal represents one of the largest creator economy transactions. The acquisition was finalised around 23 January 2026.
The agreement reportedly involves a strategic partnership and a partial exit for Lame. It is tied to the commercialization of the Khaby Lame brand. Through this transaction, a major stake in Lame’s business operations was acquired by the U.S.-based firm Rich Sparkle Holdings. The firm will be granted exclusive global commercial rights to his brand; however, Lame will still retain significant ownership and long-term control.
Unlike most traditional influencer sponsorships, this agreement positions Khaby as a business partner rather than just a content creator. The partnership is expected to expand its footprint across media, licensing, merchandising, live experiences, and emerging technologies, including AI-driven content and global e-commerce.

AI and Global Expansion Strategy
In AI-driven content, Khaby Lame will have an AI twin that will allow his content to adapt to different audiences across different languages and cultures. This will enable highly localised marketing across multiple time zones and demographics.
“This is not just an equity acquisition, but a revolution in the global content e-commerce model,” the company said. If that all goes well, Rich Sparkle estimates that the integrated structure combining traffic, fulfilment, operations, and proprietary technology could eventually generate more than $4 billion in annual sales once fully implemented.
Khaby Lame’s story: From Factory Worker to Global Business Mogul
Born Khabane Serigne Lame in Senegal and raised in Italy, the TikTok star rose to global fame during the COVID-19 pandemic after losing his factory job. With little more than a smartphone and a sharp sense of humor, Lame began posting silent reaction videos that mocked overly complicated life hacks.

His exaggerated expressions and trademark hand gestures resonated across languages and cultures. This ultimately helped him build a massive global following without saying a single word.
Today, Khaby boasts more than 160.4 million followers on TikTok, making him the most followed individual creator. Also, he boasts an average of 360 million followers across social media platforms. That popularity has now translated into a real deal that goes far beyond the traditional influencer sponsorships.
Industry Impact and Future Implications for Media and Entertainment
The creator economy is continuing to mature beyond individual sponsorships to more sophisticated corporate structures. Attention alone no longer defines success in content creation. Instead, ownership and long-term equity are now key components of the creator economy.

Traditional entertainment companies are watching creator deals as well, and they now compete directly with studios, networks, and production companies. The balance of power is truly shifting.
In the near future, this deal may inspire similar transactions as creators seek equity-backed exits. Investment banks and private equity firms are developing acquisition strategies focused on creators. The next decade may see an increasing consolidation in the creator space.
