Angela Bassett put women half her age to shame at this year’s NAACP Image Awards. Brimming with self-confidence, the 56-year-old veteran actress worked the red carpet in a plunging black and gold gown with mesh detailing.

Other celebrities, who looked stunning, included Kerry Washington, Taraji P. Henson, Uzo Aduba and Gabrielle Union.

Being Mary Jane actress Gabrielle looked demure in a pale pink dress and Scandal star Kerry rocked the ceremony in a red floral Zuhair Murad dress. Check out some of the best of the red carpet outfits here.

The Awards at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California, given by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, aired on TV One.
