Culture Shifting Weekend kicks off in New York City today and will continue over the weekend at various private locations in the metropolitan hub. Now in its tenth year, the three-day convening is the largest gathering of Black and Latinx venture capitalists who meet to explore inequity in this sector.

The exclusive three-day soirée offers institutional investors, social impact advocates, angel investors, corporate heavyweights, and the investment community-at-large direct face-to-face engagement with the burgeoning Black and Hispanic VC community.

This year will feature established and up & coming GPs from the growing ecosystem. It will also offer an inside look at the current state of this niche asset class such as what trends are emerging, what partnering models are working, and what deals are getting done.

“This is about financial inclusion in its highest form,” said Andrea Hoffman, founder and CEO of Culture Shift Labs, who spearheads Culture Shifting Weekend. “We need to show the world that seasoned Black and Latinx VCs exist and ensure we are intentional about creating more millionaires and billionaires of color”

“When you invest in VCs you are creating a multiplier effect because some of them will in turn invest in people that look like them thereby powering more entrepreneurs which make up the vast majority of this country. I am intentional about being on the right side of history”

“It’s always exciting to here,” said Mike Ross, an Atlanta-based veteran angel who has invested in a slew of Atlanta-based black-led companies such as LumaPartPic, and Myavanna. “This is one of the most significant gatherings of people of color in the financial services industry. It is a catalyst for capital formation and national networking,” added Ross who is now a regular attendee of Culture Shifting Weekend.

As with all of CSW events, attendees will gain first-hand knowledge of what is happening, from access to new investment dollars to building direct connections in the community.

The goal of the invite-only event is to increase LP money flowing to this vast and growing ecosystem. Last year’s event featured 285 guests, including, 41 venture capitalists and 55 investors.

The speakers’ lineup includes a host of influencers, industry heavyweights and sought after speakers.
