Beyond Code Collective Launches Coding Series With Support From Apple

Beyond Code Collective has launched a new YouTube series, Code Along Beyond: Music, with support from technology giant Apple. The four-part series teaches learners how to build a custom playlist app using Swift, Xcode, and Apple Intelligence while exploring app design, creativity, and problem-solving.

Founded in Atlanta in March by Cristina Mancini, Beyond Code is a nonprofit helping people of all ages build digital skills and pursue careers in the tech and AI economy.

As emerging technologies reshape how people learn, work, and create, access to technology education is increasingly tied to economic opportunity. Beyond Code aims to close that gap by creating pathways for learners traditionally underrepresented in tech.

About Beyond Code Collective 

Beyond Code is a nonprofit that connects learners to the training and opportunities needed to build careers in tech. Its mission is to equip people of all ages with the skills for an increasingly AI-first economy by guiding them from initial inspiration to training and employment. 

The organization runs an integrated set of programs: Beyond Code Centers, Beyond Code Catalysts, and Beyond the Game. These combine technical skills training, career coaching, job placement, and entrepreneurship support. Code Along Beyond: Music 

The Code Along series was initially launched by sister organization Black Girls Code, teaching younger girls and women to code and use AI tools. Currently, it reaches 182,000 subscribers globally across its platforms. Since launching three years ago, Code Along has garnered over 11.5 million views and surpassed 189,000 hours of watch time. This reflects a growing demand for technology education that is engaging, accessible, and rooted in culture. 

Beyond Code extends that opportunity across generations. It creates AI-first career pathways for adults, professionals, and the communities navigating a changing workforce. Code Along Beyond: Music guides the audience through building a custom playlist app, infusing music with technology. Viewers learn to use Swift, Apple’s programming language, to develop their own application. Each episode walks through a real project step by step, at a pace made for first-time builders.

Creators Destiney Williams and Daniel Ray host the season, with appearances by content creator Jalaiah Harmon and STEM leader Dr. Fernanda Sulantay Vargas. Each episode also features music curated to match its theme. It includes tracks from The BoykinZ, Frak the Person, and Erick Sermon. This reinforces a central belief behind Code Along Beyond: technology is not separate from culture.

Closing the Digital Divide

As AI tools rapidly change the workforce, Beyond Code Collective is determined to make sure nobody gets left behind. “More than ever, people are at risk of being left behind in the technology revolution, not because they lack the ability or talent to be part of it, but because they don’t see themselves in it,” said Mancini. “At Beyond Code Collective, we believe that we see changes when technology education reflects the creativity, stories, and lived experiences of the communities we serve. Through Code Along Beyond, we’re supporting more learners to move from consumers of technology to creators with the confidence to shape what’s next.”

As Code Along expands its reach, even more learners gain free, accessible education that reflects their own culture.
