How To Get Your New Startup Noticed

Lessons Entrepreneurs Learned The Hard Way

More and more people are choosing to take the plunge and set up a business. If you’re an ambitious entrepreneur and you want people to take notice from the get-go, bear these tips in mind.

Organize a launch event

If you’ve got a brand new business and you’re raring to go with an exciting product that you think has big potential, planning a launch event is a great idea. Business events enable you to talk to people about what you’re doing, show off the product in all its glory, and answer questions. Think carefully about who you want to invite. Get the local press involved, blog about the launch and update followers on social media. Try and get industry experts along, and representatives from companies and retailers you’d like to sell your product. Put together some goodie bags with branded items, let people have a go for themselves, and make sure your presentation is interesting and polished.

Get online

If you’re trying to get people talking about your new business, it’s usually a good idea to get online. We spend an awful lot of time surfing the web these days, and if you can reach out to people via SEO and social media, you can hit the ground running. Create a bespoke web address, which will elevate your link in the search ratings, and use social media sites that are popular with your target market. Go for a domain that is easy to remember. Names and locations work really well, especially on a local scale. If you’re keen to find out more about the benefits of buying your own domain name, click here. Do some market research in advance of the launch to give you information about strategies that are most likely to be successful based on trends linked to the demographic you’re aiming to attract. If you’re targeting 18-35 years old, for example, you may find that investing in Facebook advertising works wonders. If you’re going for a teenage audience sites like Instagram and Snapchat may prove more valuable.

Get yourself out there

If you have a product that you want to sell across the county, country or continent, it’s up to you o spread the word and put in some hard graft. If you want to drive sales, make calls, and try and set up meetings with buyers. Don’t lose heart if you get some rejections. Keep trying. If you do get a chance to show off what you’re doing, make sure you take it. If you’re going to a pitch, for example, you have a small window of time to impress, so get to the point, be concise but thorough, and leave the panel wanting more. Bring products with you, so that the people you’re meeting can try them, and make sure you have the figures and numbers pinned down. If you don’t sell to everyone, don’t give up. Learn from feedback, and use it to maximize our chances of a positive outcome at the next meeting.

Are you preparing to launch a brand new business or an innovative new product? If so, you’ll want people to notice you as soon as possible. Hopefully, this guide should help you to get off on the right foot.
