Courtney Brown Warren Promoted To Kickstarter’s New Chief Marketing Officer

Courtney Brown Warren has been appointed as Kickstarter’s new Chief Marketing Officer.

In her new role, Brown Warren will oversee all aspects of Kickstarter’s marketing, sales, and community outreach strategies. She will also focus on developing integrated, full-funnel approaches that cultivate a passionate, engaged, and empowered community for the platform. 

“I was drawn to Kickstarter,” Warren said, “because of its story as a place where people could bring their unique, wild, weird, bold ideas to life through community-driven funding. Witnessing the power of creativity and community firsthand at Kickstarter has been incredibly inspiring.”

Meet Courtney Brown Warren, An Experienced Marketing Maven

Warren is a proven marketing executive with over two decades of experience working with global brands across tech, non-profit, lifestyle, media, and entertainment. 

Before joining Kickstarter, she worked as Twitter’s Global Head of Brand. Here, she was responsible for go-to-market brand strategy, brand campaign management, talent, emerging markets, and digital, content, and editorial strategy.

Before that, she was Audible’s Head of Creative for the Emerging Business and International division. In this role, she launched two high-growth subscription startups and revenue streams—Audible Escape and Audible for Business. 

Warren’s resume also includes roles at L’Oreal, WarnerMedia (Time Inc.), Madison Square Garden Company, and the Purchase College, State University of New York.

Driving Marketing Initiatives At Kickstarter

Although Warren joined Kickstarter in April 2023 as Vice President of Brand Marketing, she has been crucial in driving several successful marketing initiatives. 

She spearheaded Kickstarter’s first-ever out-of-home campaign, “Ideas in Action,” the Kickstarter Festival in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, to celebrate the brand’s 15th anniversary, and partnerships with FOX’s Food Stars, the New York Liberty, and Spotify’s Findaway Voices. 

Under Warren’s direction, one of Kickstarter’s most critical channels for connecting with and amplifying its community—social media—has experienced impressive growth.

There has also been double-digit follower growth, a 482% increase in engagement across all Kickstarter social media channels, and an incredible +1,386.7% increase in new subscribers on the brand’s YouTube channel. 

Courtney will continue to report to Everette Taylor, CEO of Kickstarter.
