5 Ways to Make Money Working From Home in 2018

Most people dream of working from the comfort of their own homes, but turning this aspiration into a reality is not as simple as it sounds. There are thousands of sites on the Internet proclaiming “get rich from home” schemes, but if you’ve ever followed up any of these leads, you’ll know that most aren’t legitimate and many of them require financial input from the get-go.

If you want to cut out your commute, manage your workload and take charge of your schedule, then you’ll need to think about genuine ways to earn money on your own time. Here are five ways you can turn your dream of working from home into a reality.

Start a Business

These days, anyone with a laptop and a Wi-Fi connection can start a business, but there’s no guarantee that they’ll make any money from it. If you’re keen to embrace your entrepreneurial side, spend some time researching how to start your own business, and remember to play to your strengths.

Sell Your Services

One of the easiest ways to make money online is through selling digital services such as copywriting, photo editing or search engine optimization. All you will need to get started is a website and a list of contacts, but you will need to prove your credentials and spend time marketing yourself.

You can sign up to freelancing platforms like Fiverr and Upwork, but be aware that some of these sites will take a cut of what you earn, and it can be tricky to find well-paid jobs when you’re just starting out. Alternatively, if you’re qualified in a particular subject area, you could register with an online tutoring website and get paid to teach online students.

Sell Your Products

Do you enjoy making crafts? If so, you could try selling them on Etsy or creating an e-commerce site. Bear in mind that if you’re selling a physical product rather than a service, you will need to decide how you will deliver it to your customers. You could use a courier service or deliver items yourself using your own vehicle. The latter option may limit you to local business and could potentially stunt your business growth in the long term, but it’s a great way to start out.

Sell Someone Else’s Products

Companies like Avon, Pampered Chef and Tupperware employ remote workers as independent sales reps that sell their products. You can set up an online shop under your own name and host selling parties at your home to make money. The downside is, you only usually only get paid on commission, but the upside is you can enjoy some hefty discounts yourself.

Become a Delivery Driver

It’s not strictly a “work for home” opportunity, but most delivery drivers are self-employed and manage their own workload and income. You can become a delivery driver for your local courier service or post office, but you may need to provide your own vehicle. You can find plenty of commercial trucks for sale online to help you get started.

So there you have it: five of the best ways to earn money from home. Landing your first remote job isn’t easy, but once you start earning a legitimate income and have more autonomy over your working life, you will never look back.
